Ty's Flies Leader Indicator

It started with a simple problem: small dry flies are nearly impossible to track on the water. No parachute post, no foam wing, just a tiny hook doing its best to look like food. We needed a better way to see our flies without spooking fish or wrecking the cast — so we built one.

The Ty's Flies Leader Indicator is a 10" section of high-visibility pink or chartreuse mono that slots right into your leader system between your furled leader and tippet. At 7.2lb test / ~4X, it's sized to flow seamlessly through your rod guides and turn over cleanly without disrupting your leader layout. Add any 4X or finer tippet to the end and you'll get the kind of smooth, drag-free presentation you'd expect from a furled leader setup — because that's exactly what it was designed for.

We fish 5X and 6X tippet almost exclusively at Ty's Flies, and this indicator has become a permanent part of our furled leader builds. The transition from furled leader → indicator → fine tippet is seamless. No hinge, no pile, no drama.
