Walt's Worm
Walt's Worm is a timeless subsurface pattern that has earned its place in every serious nymph box — and this jig version takes it to the next level. Tied on a Firehole Outdoors 515 barbless jig hook with a tungsten bead, it drops fast, rides hook-point-up, and drifts with the kind of natural, lifelike movement that trout find impossible to ignore.
The original Walt's Worm was designed to imitate the crane fly larva, aquatic worms, and a host of other bottom-dwelling food sources that trout feed on year-round. The jig hook configuration keeps it snag-resistant through rocky runs and pocket water, while the tungsten bead gets it into the feeding lane quickly — right where the fish are holding.
Simple in design, deadly in practice. Fish it on a tight-line rig, under an indicator, or as a point fly in a two-nymph setup. It works in every season, on every freestone and tailwater stream.
