The Prince Nymph has been catching trout since before your dad started fly fishing. We took that legend, put it on a jig hook, dyed it purple, and dared it to work even better. Spoiler: it does.

Nobody knows exactly what the Prince Nymph imitates. Stonefly? Caddis? Some kind of aquatic royalty? Doesn't matter. Trout eat it anyway, and they've been eating it for decades without asking questions. The peacock color tinsel body shimmers and pulses with every micro-movement in the current, wrapped in a wire rib for the trout's pleasure — segmenting the body, adding structural integrity, and catching light in ways that are frankly none of the fish's business to resist. The black biots fan out up top like a tiny crown, and a purple dubbed collar ties the whole look together — because if you're going to commit to a theme, you commit.

Up front, a metallic bead adds just enough weight to get down quickly and throws a little extra flash at the head — the first thing a trout sees before it's already too late. No hackle, no fuss. Clean, streamlined, and hydrodynamic. Sometimes less is more. The trout agree.

Tied jig-style, it rides hook-point-up through every drift, dodging rocks and snags while trout line up to make bad decisions.

  • Jig-style tie — rides hook-point-up for fewer snags and more fish
  • Bead: Metallic — flash at the head and enough weight to get down fast
  • Peacock color tinsel body — iridescent flash that trout simply cannot explain or resist
  • Wire rib — segmented, durable, and tied for the trout's pleasure
  • Black biot tails and wings — classic Prince profile with a darker, more dramatic edge
  • Purple dubbed collar — because royalty doesn't do things halfway
  • No hackle — clean, streamlined profile that sinks fast and fishes deep
  • Effective on rivers, tailwaters, and anywhere trout have questionable taste in flies
  • Hand-tied by Ty's Flies
