The Spanish Competition Pattern That Travels Well

The Gasolina Perdigon originated on the competitive rivers of Spain, where euro nymphing was refined into an art form. Its name — Spanish for "gasoline" — is a nod to the rich, iridescent shimmer of its body. This is a fly built for speed and precision: it sinks fast, stays deep, and triggers strikes with a combination of color, flash, and a perfectly placed hotspot that trout can't ignore.

What's in the Pattern

  • Hook - Firehole Sticks 633
  • Peacock-colored mylar tinsel body — a deep, iridescent green-teal sheen that shifts with the light and closely mimics the natural luster of a peacock herl without the fragility
  • Black UV resin wing case — adds a defined silhouette and a realistic profile that suggests an emerging nymph ready to hatch
  • Orange hotspot collar — a precise, high-visibility trigger that draws the strike in any water clarity
  • UV resin finish — seals the body for exceptional durability and adds a glassy depth that thread and dubbing alone can't achieve
  • Hand-tied at Ty's Flies with competition-grade proportions in every size

Built for the Strike Zone

The Gasolina excels on a tight-line euro rig where its fast sink rate and iridescent body do the most damage, but it's equally effective under an indicator or as a dropper off a dry. Available in sizes 12–20 — go small in clear water, go big when you need to anchor the rig.
